How to Write Dialogue

Teacher: Kristen Overman

Active dialogue moves the story forward while showing how characters feel. It increases tension and adds nuance to the character’s voice. In this webinar we will work on writing dialogue that sounds natural and informs the story. We’ll build scenarios and then show how dialogue combined with actions fleshes out the scene and informs the reader, without stating what’s obvious to the other characters. Finally, we’ll cover how to format dialogue to help the story’s pacing and keep the reader engaged.
